Abstract: This study examines Stefan S. Bobchev’s views on the Balkan peoples and states through the prism of their relations and connections with Russia and Europe. By tracing various aspects of his life and activity, the research highlights his ideas about Bulgaria, the Balkans, and the world, based on his extensive scholarly and journalistic work, as well as on his broad socio-political and professional engagement within the historical processes in the country and the region at the turn of the 20th century. Although his views on foreign policy and international politics are largely identified with his pronounced Russophilia and related Slavophilism, they also reveal a consistent interest in the Balkans and a noteworthy Europeanism. With these ideas, and through his efforts in establishing and consolidating the Free University, Bobchev became a founding figure of the Bulgarian school of international relations and diplomac.

Keywords: Stefan S. Bobchev, Balkans, Russophilia, Slavophilism, Europeanism, Free University.
