Abstract: The article analyzes the development of trade and economic relations between Bulgaria and Ukraine in the 1990s – a period of significant transformations following the collapse of the USSR. The paper examines the formation of the new contractual and legal framework that became the foundation for interaction between the two independent states.

Particular attention is paid to the key agreements and initiatives aimed at establishing trade and economic ties and stimulating investments. The author clarifies the main trends in mutual trade turnover, as well as the factors that influenced the dynamics of economic cooperation, including internal political changes in both countries and their foreign policy priorities.

In conclusion, the article highlights that despite significant potential and active political dialogue, economic cooperation in the 1990s did not always reach the desired level. This was due to both objective macroeconomic challenges and certain problems with the implementation of signed agreements.

Keywords: Bulgaria, Ukraine, economic cooperation, agreements, trade, transformational processes.
