Publishing policy
Aimes and Scope
Istoricheski pregled (Historical Review) is one of the oldest and most prestigious Bulgarian journals in the field of historical studies. Without excluding the publication of innovative articles on various topics related to the political, social, economic and cultural history of different regions, the journal aims to foreground the role of Bulgaria and the Bulgarians through the ages. Hence, the Journal publishes research articles, book reviews, and scientific reports dealing not only with Bulgarian history but also with other countries, regions, and cultures that have interacted in a way or another with the Bulgarian people and the wider regions of Eastern Europe, the Balkans and the Middle East..
The publishing policy aims at: 1) developing the Bulgarian-language historical researches against the backdrop of the highest internationally established scholarly standards, including through a strict application of a double blind peer review; 2) bringing to the fore the notion of historical dynamics and the interaction between regions and cultures, directly or indirectly entangled with the Bulgarians and the Balkans past and present; 3) maintaining and developing the sections established over the previous decades as differentiated from the main research articles, book reviews and scientific reports, such as "Auxiliary Historical Studies", "Debates", "Sources", "Historiography", "Hypotheses", "Events and Personalities", "Settlement Research", "Current history", "Historical Education"; 4) disseminating the achievements of established authors while fostering the visibility of research conducted by junior aspiring scholars, including under the "Debuts" section.
Authors are not required to pay any publication fees.
The copyright of the publications in the journal belongs to its publisher, the Institute for Historical Studeis at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.
